Paying Kids to Perform In School

I was given merit money for doing well in school as a kid. As a parent, it is good to see this type of behavior under serious research to evaluate its effectiveness. "Should Kids Be Bribed to do well in school?" I think it works and I would be curious see the results.

The SeaOrbiter

I saw this recently and thought it was an incredible design both visually and technologically. "One giant leap for ocean exploration". It looks like something you would expect from the 21st century. Based on what I have read, it may launch in 2011. Here is the SeaOrbiter project site.

Splicing boron with cotton, scientists have created an t-shirt material that can deflect bullets. "Scientists Turn T-Shirts Into Body Armor". So when will this stuff hit the market?

Largest enerry storage battery in USA is in Presidio, TX. It provides enough to power the entire town for up to 8-hours. They call it "Big Old Battery" or BOB.

Sundolier Sunlight Transport System

This one looks interesting. Saw this in this Slashdot article, "Pumping Sunlight into Homes". Here is a nice brief posting of this new technology. The Sundolier looks very practical depending on its cost.
